Senate Welcomes Expatriates From Arunnia, Waterloo; Senate Allows Planets to Secede Directly into Ceni

The Senate today allowed expatriates from Arunnia and Waterloo to enter the country more freely in a vote 129-32. Also in today's session, the planets who wish to leave Arunnia and Waterloo can secede into Ceni. That measure was adopted 100-61. "The Senate wishes to expand into territory that was part of other countries but want to join Ceni," says Katinal Senator Shadow B'betsy. The reforms come as part of Kyn Tucin's plan to loosen immigration restrictions.

Why Ceni is Better than Waterloo

  1. Minimum wage is $15.00/hour
  2. Increased competition which means lower prices
  3. Free work choice- Companies compete for best talent, higher wages, can choose one with best benefits and pay
  4. Freedom of expression- Can criticize government freely
  5. Right to vote
  6. Many political parties- Can choose one that best suits your ideology
  7. Government is elected by the people
  8. System of checks and balances- no branch or person is more powerful than another
  9. Presidential system- If you don't like the current chancellor, you can vote him out of office the next election
  10. No wartime drafts
  11. Entirely volunteer army
  12. No wartime suspension of rights

Banking Scandal Revealed

Today it was revealed that Carl Weir, King of Calia, had embezzled money to the tune of $6 billion. The fraud happened when he was CEO of the Tycuflux Business Bank. It was a medium bank, and he did a massive advertisement campaign to get people to save their money at his bank. Millions of people flocked to Tyculfux Business Bank. He ordered the savings officer of his bank to tell the depositors to make their checks to the Tycuflux Business Bank, not themselves. He raked in over $5 billion. Businesses were also affected. Businesses borrowed money at a favorable rate. At the time, The Upper Throneworlds sector required bank CEOs to authorize all loan payments. Weir failed to authorize payments, and cost businesses over $1 billion in foreclosed property and increased interest payments. He will go on trial for fraud and embezzlement.

An Overview of 2011

Starting in January, the nation of Jacobia was defeated ending the Fourth Jacobian War. Jacobia became a protectorate of Ceni. In February and March, Jacobia as a protectorate alienated Cenian leaders. On April 11, Ceni demilitarized and on April 26 Arunnia went hungry. In May, the Herd took prominence as its agents attacked Kyn Tucin and formed a ninja group. Scorpia later joined Ceni that month. Kyn Tucin was elected to a second term and the Ceni-Waterloo feud began. A Royal Times journalist discovered a Madian slaving ring. Madia took the spotlight in June when it hacked Cenian computers and it detained travelers. In July Popster was kept in the union, Waterloo saboteurs supposedly destroyed 2 of Cenaci's power plants, the Cenian Constitution was written and ratified, and Scorpia seceded from the union. August was pretty quiet with the only major event being Waterloo supposedly destroying the Senate building. Also in that month, Cenian Sector turned 1. In September, the Treaty of Calia temporarily shut down violence between Ceni and Waterloo. In October, the First Constitutional Amendment passed the Senate, Kyn Tucin turned 43, and Ceni gained a new protectorate, Jalada. In November, tensions between Waterloo and Ceni spiked. Kyn Tucin and Shadow B'betsy joined the Waterloo Council, and insults went back and forth between Ceni and Waterloo. Lastly, in December, the Dictatorship Party was formed, Allan Debord's coup d'etat failed, and Kyn Tucin became the 1st chancellor with a runoff vote of 53%. So, that was the year for Cenian Sector.
