Shadow B'betsy Diagnosed With Hepatic Lipidosis

Hepatic lipidosis, otherwise known as Fatty Liver Syndrome, is an accumulation of fats in the liver. It is idiopathic (or has no known cause), although it might result from the way Kattes metabolize proteins. Shadow B'betsy was chauffeured to her doctor after maids noticed jaundice, refusal to eat, and loss of weight. She was immediately diagnosed with hepatic lipidosis. It all started when B'betsy refused to eat. Lacking food, her body started sending fat cells to the liver to process into lipoproteins for fuel. Much of the fat was stored in the liver cells. Left untreated, the liver would fail and the Katte would die. It is fortunate that B'betsy was diagnosed quickly.
