Shadow B'betsy Wins CSLP Convention; DPM Pick Confirmed

After a prolonged round of voting, Shadow B'betsy has won the 1AC Cenian Social Liberal Party Convention, held in swing sector capital As Lan. The convention was a big hit, with speakers ranging from nominees Shadow B'betsy and Kyn Tucin to popular governors such as Vaina Jereph. The keynote speaker,  Piaxi Inay, is the Senator from swing sector Sharsha Morana, which was widely regarded to vote conservative. She spoke about issues such as poverty and wealth redistribution, two issues which will help the CSLP gain ground against the ultraliberal DSP. Former King Coday Patess spoke on reasons why the nation should elect Kyn Tucin and Shadow B'betsy instead of DSP candidates. Shadow B'betsy also picked extremely popular As Lan Senator Klejos Royfer as her running mate, a move widely praised for winning over swing sectors and ultraliberal voters. On the first round of balloting, no one was the clear winner so the person with the least delegates, John Ceil, was eliminated. All of the other candidates then proceeded to throw their votes to Shadow B'betsy except for Lando Calpandian, Senator of Pandolo. Some errant delegates began to throw their support to Klejos Royfer, who squeaked by enough votes to put Shadow B'betsy over the top if he was to make a deal. And he did. In exchange for the Deputy Prime Minister spot, he would throw his delegates to her. She agreed, and so she won. The campaign begins with the nominating conventions of the other parties. Let the best candidate win!

Constitutional Convention Called to Order

A call by the Senate for a new constitutional convention to draft a new constitution after a referendum approved a switch to a semi-presidential system has been heeded, and a new convention has assembled on Cenaci. The convention is expected to write the semi-presidential system into the constitution, describing the powers of the President, the Prime Minister, the Deputy Prime Minister, and the Vice President. They are also expected to write about the role of the Council of Advisors, as well as the Council of Species and the Council of Ministers. Some rights put forth for addition are the right to same-sex marriage, abortion, due process, privacy, and the right to representation. Also included on the list are the legal principle of Nulla poena sin lege, and a provision banning a Guantanamo Bay-like thing from happening. “I expect this constitution to be better than the old one, and hope it will turn out to be good for the people of Ceni,” Kyn Tucin said upon his acceptance to be a delegate from Cenaci. The sector legislatures selected delegates based on their population; one delegate for every 1,894 billion people. Cenaci sector elected 12 delegates; Kyn Tucin, senator Luke Dickson, Supreme Court Chief Justice Masnol Binnill, Supreme Court justice Brian Foster, previous constitution signers Mary Chaumshire, Tartalom Quasi, and Peane Romney, Cenaci Court of Appeals Judge Ackbar Irizer, lawyer Onish Laro, University of Cenaci law professor Kerert Serger, constitutional law scholar Grunn Izack and Senator Sera Yuyak. Other famous names on the list are Senator Shadow B’betsy, Tentruck Mitchford, Michosplak Senator Robert Langley, Supreme Court Justice Kierra Porrieto, and Hannah Columbus. The convention started today, and the first thing they did was to elect Kyn Tucin President of the convention. Tucin remarked that the people convened at this convention were “demi-gods” and that they were the best of their kind in Ceni, and they would create a constitution that would last for eternity. The constitution would “be created by people with political experience, rooted in the writings of Locke and others,” Tucin said. The convention immediately voted to preserve secrecy. We will not know what happened at the convention until the notes of the secretary, Derrick Johnston, are released.

May 17 Primary is One of the Last

With 2 months left until the transition into the general election, the May 17 primary is one of the last 'Super Days'. 12 sectors and 560 delegates are at stake. Although it is not as large as some other Super Days, the remaining candidates are still up on their edges. Robert Langley and Leaper Lemur, not really contenders, are campaigning heavily in all of these sectors. Lando Calpandian and Shadow B'betsy are vying for the delegates they need to win the nomination. But even if Lando Calpandian wins every single vote in these primaries, it still won't be enough to overtake Shadow B'betsy.

Kitigarg and Other Sectors Receive CSLP Candidates Attention

Kitigarg and 25 other sectors face the CSLP Prime Minister candidates' attention ahead of their primaries tomorrow. 1,090 delegates are up as the Bandarbeyla, En'bak, Grand Fentlaraar, Grusgy, Kikimora, Kitigarg, Kokand, Kroyale, Luk VII, Marias Pass, Mastero, Navi, Pikadora, Plaro, Popatrok, Praristna, Sam'ina'min, Seorilon, Shigon, Shirta, Skenee, Sulrutuk, Suollak, Tereasi, Tioli, and Upper Thenipar sectors vote. Lando Calpandian is expected to win the Skenee, Upper Thenipar, Kroyale, and Seorilon sectors due to his policies on Wateloo, but Shadow B'betsy is expected to win most other sectors. John Ceil is most likely to win the conservative sectors because he is the least liberal. Above all, these candidates will be vying for the most delegates to become the CSLP nominee for Prime Minister.

Developments on Shadow B'betsy's Liver Disease

After a follow-up appointment to her doctor, Shadow B'betsy discovered that her liver disease was not fatty liver syndrome and was some type of bacterial liver disease. Blood signs show improvement, including bile, but one remained worse. Her doctor is also concerned she is losing weight. But overall, signs show she is getting better.

Shadow B'betsy Diagnosed With Hepatic Lipidosis

Hepatic lipidosis, otherwise known as Fatty Liver Syndrome, is an accumulation of fats in the liver. It is idiopathic (or has no known cause), although it might result from the way Kattes metabolize proteins. Shadow B'betsy was chauffeured to her doctor after maids noticed jaundice, refusal to eat, and loss of weight. She was immediately diagnosed with hepatic lipidosis. It all started when B'betsy refused to eat. Lacking food, her body started sending fat cells to the liver to process into lipoproteins for fuel. Much of the fat was stored in the liver cells. Left untreated, the liver would fail and the Katte would die. It is fortunate that B'betsy was diagnosed quickly.

A Talk With Shadow B'betsy

Q. A Waterloo news source has says you have taken bribes and have been executed. Of course this is not rue, as I am speaking with you. Will you please share your thoughts about this post?
A. [I am angry that a Waterlooian source would tell lies about me. This is just propaganda designed to scare Cenian citizens into fervor for Waterloo. I would not kill Kyn Tucin and would not take bribes.]
Q. What do you have to say about Waterloo's legal system?
A. [Clearly the legal system in Waterloo is flawed, with no appeals process for death row inmates. I say their legal system is just a way to shepherd their enemies to prison or the death row. Their punishments are draconian and would violate Article 9 of the Cenian Constitution, if it applied to Waterloo, which, sadly, it doesn't.]

Senate Vaults Katinal Senator Shadow B'betsy into Waterloo Office

The Cenian Senate has issued a mandate that states that Shadow B'betsy is eligible to join the Imperial Council of Waterloo to represent Katinal and other non-Cenian members of Ceni. In a vote 120-17, they approved the mandate.

Shadow B'betsy Denounces Conservatives

Question: Senator B'betsy, what do you have to say about the invasion of liberals in your sector?
Answer: [I denounce this effort by conservatives and their corporations trying to get their greedy claws in my sector.]
Q: What is with the voter farud in your sector and how can you fix it?
A: [The Cenian Conservative Party's fanatical supporters are distributing senseless packets saying that 'if you are not a Cenian, you cannot vote', and then saying 'if you disobey these rules, you will be sentenced for 10 {Katinal} years in jail and your children will be taken from you.' Now I urge all Kattes to ignore this propaganda and I will hunt down the offenders and prosecute them so they get a taste of their own medicine. Why would you believe that anyway? Why would the government take away your children? That seems, and is, just stupid.]
Q: Are there any other problems with conservatives in your sector?
A:[ My opponent in the latest election denounced programs that I had voted to support and said if he was elected, then he would vote to eliminate Social Security and put that saved money into the padded palms and claws of corporations that would create jobs.]

Thank you.
[Your Welcome.]
